Christopher Hansen wins honorable mention in Tokyo

The international architectural competition for 'Death & the City, Tokyo Vertical Cemetery' attracted some 460 entries from 54 countries around the world. KHiO's MA student Christopher Hansen has been awarded with a honorable mention for his entry titled 'Yaoyoruza'. The competition was organized by Arch Out Loud. The competition was judged by highly established international jury.

Oslo Architecture Trienniale, The Academy

Exhibition-opening of the Academy. 8 days, 124 students and 31 faculty members from 14 schools located in 12 countries have inhabited the Stenersen Museum in Oslo, which has been closed to the public since December 2015. Composed of architects, artists and urban planners, the group has partaken in a unique Academy program, part of the Oslo Architecture Triennale’s (OAT) core program.

During the public presentation at 5 pm, students will present the result of their reflections on the theme of After Belonging.

Lucia Butnariu wins the Statsbyggs student award for outstanding achievement in Spatial and Furniture Design

The award is aimed to encouraging an experimental and innovative approaches in spatial and furniture design amongst future generations of interior architects. Statsbygg student award is 20 000 NOK.

The jury's report states about Ms Butnariu's project the following:

"The study describes alternative learning arena’s that can be integrated into existing properties in Oslo.

A comprehensive list of properties which may be suitable for the concept is included. Innovative learning arenas and concepts are presented, followed by descriptions and sketches of spaces suitable for different types of collaborations such as: collaborative, creative, controlling and competing environments. The study concludes with four scenarios: urban kitchens, urban agriculture, bike workshop, learning arena with housing for the elderly, which are used for various spatial studies in selected properties. Reuse - allows for environmentally friendly low-cost solutions.

MA End of the Year Exhibition

The final exhibition of the MA projects are now on display in the KHiO galleries! The exhibition presents a wide variety of works addressing the complex issues concerning our contemporary society. Through the exhibited works the students want to engage in to the discourse how our disciplines ought to be involved. This is a joint exhibition together with both the Art & Crafts and the Fine Arts.

Opening ceremony 3.6. at 18:00. Exhibition is open until 12.6.

MA Exams

Now it is turn for the annual Master in Design exams within the Interior Architecture and Furniture Design. The event will take place in the main gallery of KHiO. Each candidate presents their MA project to the external examiners. The event is public.
